Community rules

Eerste River Connect is for our town and the areas around it. The ERC team can say no to a post, and you can ask us to look again.

  1. Stay local. Businesses, events and adverts should be in Eerste River, Eerste River South, Silversands, Electric City, Stratford, Kleinvlei, Forest Village or Blue Downs.
  2. No hate, no racism, no sharing private details. Don't use insults. Don't describe a person by race as if that makes them suspicious. Don't post someone's address, ID number, or private number unless they said you may.
  3. No accusations. Don't name someone as a criminal or post a face as a suspect. That is for SAPS, not this board. ERC is not an emergency service.
  4. No scams or stolen goods. Say what the item is and where it can be collected. Don't ask for a deposit before you meet. Meet in a public place.
  5. Businesses must be real. Only add a business that serves this area. Nobody pays to be featured. The ERC team can remove a card that is fake or unrelated.
  6. Only true notices. Don't share a rumour as if it came from the City or Eskom. The ERC team says where each notice comes from.
  7. Photos stay small and decent. One to four images. No children in identifying photos. No graphic violence.
  8. Reports and appeals. Tap Report on an advert, a lost-and-found post, a safety note or a business. The ERC team can leave the post up, or take it down. If you were signed in when you posted, a post that is taken down counts as one strike. After three strikes you can't post for a while. From the account page you can write to us once to ask us to look again (an appeal). If we agree, one strike is removed.
  9. Safety notes don't accuse people. Describe the place and what happened. Do not name a suspect, post a face, or ask neighbours to identify someone. For danger, call SAPS on 10111 or 112. ERC can't send the police.

Breaking these rules can mean the post is rejected or removed. If you get three strikes, you can't post until the ERC team agrees to your appeal or lifts the pause. The terms sit alongside these rules.
