Terms of use
Using Eerste River Connect
These rules are for using Eerste River Connect: a free community noticeboard, business directory and buy & sell for Eerste River and nearby areas.
The service
You don't need an account to look around. When you place an advert or add a business, the ERC team checks it first. Nothing you send shows on the site until we say yes. We can say no, make a post shorter, or take down a post that breaks the community rules.
Businesses, adverts and money
Adding your business is free. Featured only moves a business to the top. You don't pay for it, and you will not be signed up for anything. Prices on buy & sell are in rand, and the seller sets the price. ERC is not the seller and never holds your money. We can't promise that an item is safe, legal, or what the advert says it is.
Your posts
When you post, you are saying the words and photos are yours to share, and that you may use the phone number you give. Phone numbers on adverts stay hidden until someone taps Contact. Don't post someone else's number.
Notices
The ERC team types up load-shedding and water news by hand. It does not come straight from Eskom or the City of Cape Town, so it can be wrong or late. For anything important, check with Eskom or the City first.
No emergency response
ERC can't send the police, an ambulance or armed response. If you are in danger, call 10111, 112, or the City of Cape Town emergency number 021 480 7700.
What we are not responsible for
ERC is a free community tool. We can't guarantee that the site is always working, that every notice is right, or how a deal between neighbours turns out. The privacy page explains what personal information we keep.
